When Mango Bears Fruit in Winter
The title refers to ‘change’, change will only come when mango bears fruit in winter. This body of work reflects the conflict between rapid development and global homogenisation, versus my perception of the lack of social change in India since my first visit to India in 1985. The work portrays traditional roles of men and women, the continued power and importance of religious belief systems, the drama and strength of nature and the continued existence of traditional values, working methods, and modes of transport.
